PINTO X MARCEL WANDERS - One Minute Delft Black Vase No. 7

This vase opens with a neck painted almost entirely in black. From the shoulder, broad strokes run down like drips, then break into shorter touches as they reach the body. On one side, white takes over again and lets the ribs of the baluster form breathe.

Here black is more than a colour: it becomes a gesture. Applied directly by hand by Marcel Wanders in a single minute, it keeps the pressure and speed of the stroke. Fixed by several firings at up to 1,160 °C at Royal Delft, this fleeting movement becomes permanent beneath a deep, glossy glaze.
