PINTO X MARCEL WANDERS - One Minute Delft Black Vase No. 5

On this vase, white holds sway. A few nervous touches mark the shoulder, then the gesture returns lower down in a cluster of imprints on the body. In between, the ribs of the earthenware are left bare and catch the light, beneath a neck kept perfectly white.

The white provides the silence; the black records the movement. Conceived by Marcel Wanders for PINTO at Fahad Hariri’s invitation, the One Minute Delft Black series carries the Delft tradition into a palette of black and white. Shaped by Royal Delft and fired several times at up to 1,160 °C, this piece holds the trace of a gesture that will never be repeated.
