PINTO X MARCEL WANDERS - One Minute Delft Black Vase No. 1

A unique piece from the One Minute Delft Black collection, this vase was hand painted by Marcel Wanders in a single minute, on a ribbed baluster form made by Royal Delft. Here the black runs down in broad vertical strokes from shoulder to foot, gathering on one side and leaving wide fields of white elsewhere. Neck and base are edged in black, as if to frame the gesture.

At Fahad Hariri’s invitation, Marcel Wanders sets aside the historic Delft blue for the black of the PINTO universe. No sketches, no corrections, no repetition: the pressure of the hand and the speed of the stroke remain legible beneath the glossy glaze, fixed by several firings at up to 1,160 °C.
