With Les Interdits, Pinto introduces strange objects that bear witness to a passion for the elsewhere, a scientific fascination with species, and a temptation toward the morbid. These fragments of bygone still lifes — a true cabinet of curiosities — give rise to hybrid, disparate, and sentimental collections. Pinto’s proposal is to shift these objects into a decorative realm, forming a collection of shapes that intrude upon space like art or sculpture. Cast in bronze, their presence celebrates the beauty of nature: horseshoe crab, rostrum, sea cocco, starfish, and skull. Produced in a limited edition in patinated bronze, they rest on oak bases with metal bands.
